William Patrick Brown of Manassas was heading north on Hoadly Road in a 2012 Chevrolet Corvette around 4 a.m. Jan. 31, when he lost control and hit a curb then guardrail, Prince William County police said.

Brown went through an intersection then struck two traffic signs with the passenger side of the car, police said.

Witnesses told officers that a man later identified as Brown and a passenger, his 10-year-old son, fled the scene prior to police arriving in the area, authorities said.

Officers found Brown and his son at a home nearby a short time later. While investigating the incident, officers determined Brown was driving while intoxicated and was in possession of a live round.

No injuries were reported, and the boy was left in the custody of known parties. Following the investigation, Brown was charged with felony child neglect, DUI, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

Brown was arrested last March for fighting with officers and damaging a police car as police were trying to serve a warrant, as previously reported by Daily Voice.

A court date is set for Feb. 22.
